history on Cape CodThe Woods Hole Historical Museum is a great summer destination if you are interested in Cape Cod history.  This lovely small house is perched right on Little Harbor in Woods Hole so you can enjoy exhibits as well as a cool ocean breeze on a sunny summer day.  Woods Hole is a village of Falmouth MA, on Cape Cod, just three miles down the road from the center of Falmouth.

This summer, there are two temporary exhibits — one on the history of business in Woods Hole replete with photos and stories, and the other the work of illustrator James Prosek who sketches ocean fish for publication like a modern day Audubon.  His many books are also available for viewing at the museum, and you will marvel at the accuracy and beauty of his intricate drawings.

Out behind the museum is a barn filled with antique boats and memorabilia about wooden boats with open doors to the breeze and a charming row of signal flags draped across the front door.

On Saturday July 19th at 10 am, the Woods Hole Historical Museum holds their annual auction.  This is a great event, filled with locals and visitors who come for the bargains and the great good humor of auctioneer Phil Stanton.  They only offer this auction every other year, and it raises money for the Museum.

The Woods Hole Historical Museum is located at 579 Woods Hole Road in Woods Hole (a village of the town of Falmouth) on Cape Cod.  Your friendly B&B owner can help you find your way here, and there is free parking at the Museum for patrons.
