Here in Falmouth, we were spared by Hurricane Sandy and only received a glancing blow.

Sometimes, in the days after a big storm we get the best weather of the fall, and so it was this weekend here.  Even the delicate foliage remained, saved by winds that came mostly from the east, not laden with salt spray and diminished by landfall far south of here.

Foliage season comes late here, as the weather stays much warmer than other New England locations with the proximity of the warm Gulf Stream waters that bathe our lovely beaches.  We are in a micro-climate, and a very pleasant one.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our guests, friends and fellow innkeepers south of us, for whom Sandy was so much more extreme.

Please enjoy this short photo essay of this weekend in beautiful Falmouth, Massachusetts, with images from its’ iconic village of Woods Hole.
