Artist Lance Shinkle — a long time Falmouth Mass resident — carved and painted the incredible horses for this “Carousel of Light” which also is covered with beautiful paintings of favorite Falmouth activities like jumping off the Menahaunt Bridge, walking the Knob and strolling Nobska Lighthouse.
Mr. Shinkle carved and hand-painted this collection over 20 years ago, each horse assembled like butcher block with white pine, then sculpted first with a chain saw, then chisels and finally sandpaper. What a life’s work!
Located right near Falmouth’s charming Main Street in front of the Mullen Hall School, the Carousel of Light offers fun for all ages in the summertime. The Carousel will be closed up for the season in late August so hurry over for your late summer ride. Rides are $3 per person and donations to the future of the Carousel are encouraged.
Hopefully, the Carousel will find a more permanent location in Falmouth in the near future!
