Highfield Hall Museum and Gardens

This spectacularly restored mansion and grounds has become one of the most visited locations in Falmouth. The mansion hosts art shows, music events, and culinary classes to highlight a few happenings. The property is also one of the most popular venues for weddings.

As summer comes to a close with Labor Day just around the corner we encourage you to make time for the Out of the Box Art and Science show which ends on September 3rd. Should you miss that event check out their calendar for upcoming art shows.

Several award winning chefs from the Falmouth and Woods Hole communities teach culinary classes at Highfield Hall during the year. For a  listing of upcoming events check out their culinary calendar.

Sunday estate walks continue through October from 12:30-1:30 during which you can learn about the Beebe family who build the Highfield Hall and have a rich history in the community.

Music rings through the mansion at different events ranging from classical to jazz. The venue provides an intimate setting with seating limited to about 100. In addition, various music lectures on well known artists are hosted at different times during the year by Robert Wyatt, Director of Music. Fer example, this October 2018 will feature a lecture on July Garland. The Highfield website provides information on upcoming events.

Falmouth Museums on the Green and Historical Society

Falmouth Museums on the Green is not your stuffy museum of old. Certainly they have wonderful historical archives and exhibits yet that is not all they offer. Many authors have come to know Falmouth Museums as a venue for them to speak about their research and books ranging from local interest A History of the Falmouth Road Race to Fly Girls which is a story about 5 daring women and their exploits with airplane racing.

Fun events have included A Historic Reenactment: Emelia Earhart, It’s Pirate Night, Beer B Q @ and many more.

Don’t miss the upcoming Halloween tradition of A Visit from the Night Watchman on October 27th at 6 pm.

Woods Hole Aquarium (Free Admission)

This hidden jewel is tucked in the lovely village of Woods Hole walking distance from the dock for the

Steamship Authority’s Martha’s Vineyard ferry. The village from its humble beginning as a fishing village, has grown to be recognized as the home of some of the most influential scientists specializing in oceanographic knowledge and is home to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute and the Marine Biological Laboratory which is the largest privately-funded lab in the country.

The aquarium is open from 11 am until 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday’s year round excluding federal holidays. The aquarium is home to 140 species of marine animals.

Woods Hole Historical Museum (Free Admission)

In addition to the traditional historical archives when you venture to the Woods Hole Historical Museum you will be treated to a small boat museum and two other key exhibits. The two key exhibits are The History of Woods Hole in Gallery One and Man and Mollusk: A History of Shellfishing on Cape Cod which is in its second year on exhibit in Gallery Two.
