If you like music, as most folks do, Falmouth is where you should spend some of your holiday time. Between The Arts and Music we have quite a bit to offer our visitors.
For the past twenty five years, First Congregational Church of Falmouth, 68 Main Street, directly across from our beautifully decorated and festive Village Green has offered a ‘Community Messiah Sing’, a traditional community event. This year’s event will be held on Friday, December 21, 7:00-8:30PM. Doors will open at 6:30PM
A suggested donation of $5.00 is requested from those attending.
Singers, instrumentalists and listeners are invited to join the Falmouth Chorale and Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra under the direction of John Yankee, to sing portions of Handel’s, oratoria “The Messiah”.
All singers and orchestral instrumentalists are welcome to participate. Participants can bring their own score or borrow one from the Chorale. Arias will be sung by all singers who wish to participate. Others are welcome to simply watch, listen and be part of this peaceful tradition of the season, which will culminate in the singing of the iconic “Hallelujah” chorus.
The delicate, crescent shaped new moon has returned to our winter sky here in Falmouth offering us much hope and peace. Just looking at the waves roll in on our calm soft sandy beaches puts us at ease.
Our starlings watch over our skies flickering back and forth in perfect unison. Nothing is more beautiful than to look upon the towering steeples of our majestic churches as the sun sets each evening. The stalwart evergreens remind us they are here… for us. It is truly a pleasure to walk down Main Street into the Village as folks nod, smile and wish you ‘good day’.
We await our first snowfall as a brand new year is just around the corner. Let us all continue to show kindness to one another and look forward to a very happy, healthy new year filled with much hope, promise and peace on earth.
